Bernard "Byrne" Nenstiel, 90, of Mountain Top, passed away early Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at his residence following a one-year illness.
Born in Hazleton, November 25, 1935, he was the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Widitz) Nenstiel and had spent most of his life in Mountain Top.
Byrne was a graduate of Black Creek Twp. High School, class of 1955. He worked as a Welder for Myers Industries and Summit Manufacturing, both of Valmont having retired in 1997. He was a faithful member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Conyngham. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He and his wife loved to travel in their motorhome, and they visited every state except Hawaii. They also enjoyed country dancing and watching local bands together.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Shirley Ann Woodring, who passed away October 27, 2016; and a son, Randy Nenstiel, who passed away October 15, 2017; five brothers, Eugene, Fred, Edward, Reynold, and Henry Nenstiel; and a sister, Ellen.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Nenstiel, Wilkes-Barre; and Daniel Nenstiel and wife Lori, Drums; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Daniel "DJ", and Justin; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 8 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will take place privately at the convivence of his family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 PM - 8 PM.
